With the Trooping the Colour celebration behind them, Prince William and Kate Middleton are off to Cumbria for a day of royal engagements. According to Kensington Palace, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge plan to "celebrate the resilience and spirit of rural and farming communities in the region," including a trip to a traditional fell sheep farm, where they're set to learn about the challenges facing traditional farmers in the region and help shear some sheep too.

Obviously planning ahead for the outdoorsy day, Kate made her appearance at a public meet and greet in Keswick sporting a sophisticated take on a sporty jeans-and-boots look, including boots by Chloé, black skinny jeans, and a Tracker jacket by London-based brand Troy. To give the look a dressier touch, she added a ruffle-collared shirt underneath a sweater and a set of heart-shaped diamond earrings from Kiki McDonough.

While the look is a departure from the coatdress-loving royal's typical formal style, as she displayed this weekend in a sunny yellow look by Alexander McQueen with a matching yellow hat by Philip Treacy to celebrate the Queen's 93rd birthday at the annual Trooping the Colour celebration, it's not out of her style character. Kate is, after all, an avowed fan of boots and has paired similar looks for informal events in the past (see some of Kate's best boot pairing moments here).

Of course, it's not all understated for the Duchess this week. We can expect to see her in more formal dress tomorrow for her speech at a gala dinner in recognition of Addiction Awareness Week.
