  • Kate Middleton turned 39 on Jan. 9 and is celebrating her birthday a little differently this year.

  • Kate is spending her birthday with her family.

Any other year, Kate Middleton would celebrate her birthday by throwing a big house party with her husband, Prince William, her parents Carole and Michael Middleton, and her closest friends. Since the United Kingdom is requiring residents to quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, her birthday looks a little different this year. She's keeping it lowkey with Prince William and their kids, Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2.

"Thank you for your kind wishes on The Duchess’ birthday," the Kensington Royal Instagram account captioned their latest post of Kate wearing a very fashionable face mask. Would you expect anything less from the Duchess of Cambridge? The caption continued, "Birthdays have been very different in recent months, and our thoughts continue to be with all those working on the front line at this hugely challenging time."

Members of the royal family are wishing Kate a happy birthday including, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, writing, “Happy Birthday to The Duchess of Cambridge! 🎊.” The main royal family Instagram account, which represents Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and other members of the royal family, shared photos of Kate, writing, “Wishing The Duchess of Cambridge a very happy birthday today! 🎂”

Of course, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry haven't publically wished Kate a happy birthday (they no longer have an Instagram account). However, we like to think that they gave Kate a call, or mailed a gift, or sent a card, or... something. According to a source who spoke to Vanity Fair royal reporter Katie Nicholl, Meghan and Harry are on better terms with William and Kate, whose relationship with the Sussexes is "much better than it was."

A drama-free family? Now, that would be a gift.
