Prince William recently shared that Kate is a “very good” cook and admitted that he only does a bit of cooking at home. And today, the Princess of Wales had the chance to show off some of her skills in public as she joined in with a pancake making activity during a visit to a nursing home.

Like many families in the UK, William, Kate and their three children are likely to be tucking into pancakes this evening to mark Shrove Tuesday ahead of Lent. But if Kate makes them at home then hopefully she will have more luck than she did earlier today when a pancake got stuck to the pan.

In a video posted online by the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English, Kate is seen having a go at the activity during a visit to the Oxford House Nursing Home in Slough. After struggling to shake the mixture free from the pan to flip the pancake, and to much laughter, she eventually managed to do a small flip. “All the ones that were made earlier are much nicer!” Kate is heard saying in the video as she joked with the member of staff helping her.

The Princess was meeting with staff and residents to hear how the nursing home is delivering high-quality, patient-focused care. Oxford House is a family-run nursing home that first opened in 1980 and provides nursing care for up to 34 residents. Oxford House Community Care also provides support to enable people in the local area to reside independently in their own homes.

During her visit, Kate heard about Oxford House’s use of interactive technology to enrich the daily lives of residents. This includes the use of an interactive sensory table and a new interactive wall which will be used to support residents with dementia.
