Kate Middleton Is Self-Isolating After COVID Exposure
The Dutchess of Cambridge is self-isolating after coming into contact with someone who later tested positive for COVID-19.
Her office at Kensington Palace made a statement today confirming the situation. A spokesperson for the palace said that Dutchess Kate is not experiencing any symptoms.
The statement reads, "Last week The Duchess of Cambridge came into contact with someone who has subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. Her Royal Highness is not experiencing any symptoms, but is following all relevant government guidelines and is self-isolating at home."
Dutchess Kate was scheduled to make a public appearance alongside Prince William today at St. Paul's Cathedral in London for a service of thanksgiving for the 73rd anniversary of the U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS). She was also scheduled to host an afternoon tea in the gardens of Buckingham Palace for NHS staff. Prince William, who was not required to self-isolate, arrived at St. Paul's Cathedral at around 11 a.m. local time today, according to People.
Per British government guidelines, Dutchess Kate has to self-isolate at home for 10 full days after the COVID-19 exposure.
The Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine last May. Both Prince William and Dutchess Kate shared pictures of them receiving the vaccine shot on their official Instagram.
Dutchess Kate's last public appearance was at Wimbledon last week (July 2). The Dutchess of Cambridge attended a doubles match and toured the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum. She also helped prepare food for those in need in the local community.
