Kate Middleton "Secretly" Went to a Music Festival at the Estate of Her "Rural Rival" Rose Hanbury

Remember when the entire internet wouldn't stop obsessing over those false rumors about Prince William and Rose Hanbury, aka the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, double aka Kate Middleton's "rural rival?" Yeah, well, apparently Rose and Kate are on good terms these days because Kate just "secretly" attended a music festival at her house. Which happens to also double as a massive estate.

According to the Daily Mail, Kate was having dinner with Rose and her husband David (the the Marquess of Cholmondeley) at Houghton Hall, and was convinced to attend the Houghton Festival. As a source told the outlet, "After dinner, one of the guests suggested that Catherine go to the festival. Catherine was nervous about the idea, but, after much discussion with her protection officers, she went with lots of security. William wasn't there."

Naturally a Kensington Palace spokesperson has "declined to comment" on Kate's attendance, and the Daily Mail points out that it's "not clear" why Prince William wasn't in attendances—though it's possible that he was on a grouse-shooting trip with friends.

We have a full breakdown on the rumors about Rose and Wills over this way, but TLDR: tabloids made some false claims about William and Rose's relationship back in 2019. The Daily Mail’s royal reporter Richard Kay ended up shooting story down completely, saying, “Both sides have considered legal action, but because none of the reports have been able to offer any evidence about what the so-called dispute is about, they have chosen to ignore it.…These hurtful rumors of a fallout are simply false.”

Rose was then dubbed Kate’s “rural rival” by UK tabloids as rumors of a fallout continued, and a source told Us Weekly, “The affair rumors turned out to be a good thing for [William and Kate] in the end. Kate finds the rumors hurtful, obviously, and hates the thought that one day her children will be able to read about them online.…It forced her and William to sit back and examine their relationship, which they realized they should have been doing more often.”
