It’s been a bit since we have seen Prince George and Princess Charlotte out and about—Christmas day services the last time they’ve made public appearances—and, given that they’re, you know, children, the two are likely completely different characters at this point in time.

On Thursday, George and Charlotte’s mother (also known as the Duchess of Cambridge) told a fellow parent, at a special war memorial unveiling, that Charlotte—now two years old—has ascended into an entirely different role in the family. Samantha Burge, the wife of a warrant officer, told reporters (per People), “[Kate] said that Charlotte is growing up really fast. She is the one in charge.” She continued, “We have both got two-year-olds and they are ruling the roost. It was a bit of a mummy chat.”

And Burge was not done there! She had more to recount from her conversation with the Duchess: “[Kate said] they are both becoming really good friends, George and Charlotte.”

We wish Burge—who clearly had a knack for making Kate feel comfortable sharing family information—had asked all kinds of other questions. What does Kate think of Meghan Markle? Where is the dream journal Meghan gave her located now?! What is George’s nickname for Meghan? (O.K., yes, we are very much preoccupied with Meghan right now, sue us.)

Meanwhile, we wait for our next George and Charlotte appearance, now in particular to see what Charlotte’s vibe is given that she has become the ruler of the roost.
