Kate Middleton Rewears Polka-Dot Dress to Commemorate D-Day's 75th Anniversary at Bletchley Park
Kate Middleton is undertaking a solo engagement today, to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landing at Normandy.
Kate opted to wear a navy polka-dot dress from Alessandra Rich. This is a rewear-she previously donned the look for Prince Charles's 70th birthday portraits.
The Duchess is visiting Bletchley Park, the historical site-turned-museum where early computer scientists like Alan Turing worked to decipher the Axis powers's secret codes. (Their story was famously dramatized in 2014's The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Kiera Knightley. The movie was filmed partly on location in Bletchley Park.) Kate's late grandmother, Valerie Glassborow, actually worked at the Park.
During her visit, Kate is slated to stop by "D-Day: Interception, Intelligence, Invasion," an exhibition in the museum's newly restored Teleprinter Building. "This exhibition portrays the vital link between the men andwomen at Bletchley Park, and their counterparts on the battlefield, and shows how good intelligence could make the difference on the beaches of Normandy between life and death, success and failure," David Kenyon, a historian at the museum, explained in a statement.
Kate previously visited Bletchley Park in 2014. Then, the Duchess met with veterans who had worked at the Park, and engaged with some of the museum's exhibits. Photographers caught a few snaps of her listening to a morse code message, inside one of the Park's "codebreaking huts."
For their part, the museum staff is delighted to have Kate back for another visit. "We are very much looking forward to welcoming back the Duchess of Cambridge tomorrow," Bletchley Park tweeted yesterday.
