Kate Middleton stepped out for a Remembrance Day service over the weekend, wearing a black dress and a wide-brimmed hat that was almost identical to the one Princess Diana wore during a Remembrance Day service in 1990. Here’s Kate, who spent the service standing with Queen Camilla:
And here’s Princess Diana in a very similar ensemble:
The Sun reports that Kate also wore Princess Diana’s pearl earrings to the event in a tribute to her late mother-in-law:
Honestly, though, this is hardly the first time Kate has worn them. The Princess of Wales showcased Diana’s earrings at the BAFTAs in London back in 2019:
And she wore them again recently at the 2022 Royal Ascot:
Meanwhile, Diana wore the earrings a lot in the ’90s. According to the Royal Watcher blog, they were first seen on her in 1990 during the coronation banquet of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan.
Diana also wore the earrings during a performance at the English National Ballet Gala in 1992 (and paired them with the Spencer tiara while she was at it):
Anyway! Point is: These earrings have a lot of history. And speaking of fancy royal jewelry, Kate also joined Prince William during a special commemorative concert at the Royal Albert Hall over the weekend, this time paying tribute to the Queen by wearing her Japanese pearl choker necklace and her Bahrain diamond-and-pearl drop earrings:
Kate wore the same necklace and earring set to honor the Queen at her state funeral, as well as at Prince Philip’s funeral last year:
Cool, I’ll just be here in my clip-on earrings from Claire’s that are turning my ears green, bye.
