Sailing has always been a pastime for the nobility, and naturally, modern royals have their own way of dressing for the high seas. At this morning’s King’s Cup regatta on the Isle of Wight in England, the Duchess of Cambridge showed exactly how it’s done, arriving at the charity event in a ruffled top from Sandro. Short-sleeved with multi-colored stripes, the piece worked beautifully with her wide-legged L.K. Bennet trousers and white Superga sneakers.

Though she changed into a windbreaker and shorts to skipper her vessel, Middleton still managed to deliver a fresh take on seafaring style, skipping her usual Breton stripes in favor of something playful. With its orange tones and ruffled peplum, her top stood out amidst all the button-downs and basic sweaters.

The race was more than a showcase for fashion: its proceeds will benefit eight of the Duke and Duchess’s favorite charities. A friendly competition all for a great cause, it gave the Duchess another opportunity to shine.
