Kate Middleton made a cameo on the British children's TV show Blue Peter today to launch a new competition that aims to get kids and families more in touch with nature. The mother of three was game during her seven-minute segment on the television program as she accompanied young ones in "pond dipping," planting, and den building.

With her TV appearance, the Duchess of Cambridge also announced a new contest for people to design a sculpture for her "Back to Nature Garden," which she helped design for the Royal Horticultural Society. The exhibit first debuted at the Chelsea Flower Show in mid-May, but is set to arrive to Wisley in September. The winning sculpture will be added to the display then. Two runners-up will also be able to design activity cards to accompany the garden.

In her television segment, the duchess discussed her love for outdoor activities. "It encourages creativity, confidence and even a short amount of time-10-15 minutes outside-makes a huge difference to physical well-being but also to our mental well-being," she told presenter Lindsey Russell.

Kate wore an army green Troy of London military jacket, which she also wore to her Cumbria visit with Prince William, along with black skinny jeans and olive sneakers with gum soles.

Duchess Kate showed the importance of nature within her own family when she brought husband Prince William and all three of their sweet kids-Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1-to her "Back to Nature" garden last month. "I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental well-being, particularly for young kiddies," she said at the time.

Blue Peter airs on CBBC at 5:30 p.m. in the U.K.
