  • Kate Middleton made a previously unannounced work appearance at the Royal Horticultural Society's garden in Wisley.

  • The Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to celebrate yet another iteration of the Back to Nature garden, which she originally codesigned this spring for the Chelsea Flower Show.

  • She dressed aptly for the event in a pale blue floral dress covered in pink roses.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, surprised us this morning with a previously embargoed public engagement at the Royal Horticultural Society in Wisley, about an hour southwest of London. There, she celebrated the launch of another rendition of the Back to Nature play garden she originally helped design for the Chelsea Flower Show in May. This new and final version at Wisley includes features from past iterations, plus two connected tree houses for children and families to play in, according to royal correspondent Omid Scobie.

The duchess dressed accordingly for the outdoor theme, opting for a light blue midi dress, dotted with pink roses, by Emilia Wickstead. The loose and breezy seersucker frock is perfect for transitional summer-to-fall weather. With a ladylike silhouette featuring a collar, long sleeves, and a cinched waist, the number was still classically Kate. The royal style star completed the look with a trusty pair of espadrille wedges for the grassy terrain.

A Back to Nature festival was thrown at the garden in honor of the new launch. The duchess invited families and representatives from organizations she's met and collaborated with in her work supporting early childhood development, per Scobie. And get this, Great British Bake Off fans: Mary Berry was there.

We last saw the Duchess of Cambridge dropping off her two oldest children, six-year-old Prince George and four-year-old Princess Charlotte, with husband Prince William at their first day of school last week. Rocking a printed Michael Kors dress, a new blowout, and post-summer highlights, she was probably the most stylish mom in the schoolyard.
