Kate Middleton Makes First Appearance of 2019 in Catherine Walker Coat Dress and Matching Headband

Kate Middleton made her last public appearance of 2018 at the royal family's Norfolk Christmas morning service, wearing a crimson coat dress and matching headband by Jane Taylor. She made her first appearance of 2019 in a blue version of that look for church this weekend with the Queen. Kate wore a Catherine Walker coat dress and a matching blue headband to attend service at Sandringham's St Mary Magdalene Church with her husband Prince William this morning.

This is not Kate's first time in the coat dress. She introduced the piece last year during her pregnancy with Prince Louis. She first wore it during her royal tour of Norway in February:

Kate has also really been trying to make headbands a regular feature of her royal wardrobe, even beyond her last two church appearances-a very Blair Waldorf move by the Duchess of Cambridge. She first wore a headband at Prince Louis's christening in July:

And then again in November during an appearance at a Westminster Abbey service.

She first really dabbled with the hair accessory in July 2016 when she took Prince George to the Royal International Air Tattoo-although her animal print headband is the most casual of the headbands she has worn at royal engagements.

Kate's appearance today was a surprise. At this point, her first royal engagement of 2019 has not been announced, nor has Meghan Markle's or Prince Harry's. Kate's husband William is the first of the Fab Four to have an event this Wednesday, on Kate's birthday. He'll visit London's Air Ambulance Charity for part of the day.
