It all started out when Kensington Palace officially announced that Kate Middleton would be temporarily stepping away from her royal duties because of her medical surgery. “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” the palace said in January. “She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” the statement continued. “Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.”
“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible,” they added. However, many netizens came up with many conspiracy theories regarding where she is, and how she’s really doing when she’s away from the public eye.

In a video obtained by TMZ, Kate and Prince William were spotted at Windsor Farm which is about a mile away from Windsor Castle.
According to The Sun, onlookers said she looked “happy, relaxed and healthy” as she paid a visit to a Windsor farm shop on Saturday, March 16, 2024. “Kate was out shopping with William and she looked happy and she looked well,” an anonymous source told the tabloid. “The kids weren’t with them but it’s such a good sign she was healthy enough to pop down to the shops.”
However, many celebs and netizens are not convinced that the woman in the video was Kate Middleton. That ain’t Kate….,” Andy Cohen posted on X.
Is Heidi Agan posing as Kate Middleton in the viral video?
Kate Middleton lookalike Heidi Agan denied that she was in the video with Prince William. “There has obviously been some speculation about whether it was Kate and William in that footage and stills,” she told The Mirror. “In fact, my own social media has gone crazy as people think it is me, but I know it is not. I was at work at the time so I know that is not me. I 100 per cent believe that is Kate Middleton and William in that video.”
Heidi Egan started working as a Kate Middleton lookalike that was available for hire at parties and corporate events in 2012. She started the job after she was constantly compared to the future queen during her job as a waitress. Egan currently has a day job as a teacher and revealed that she was at that job at the same time as the video.
She continued, “My social media has gone crazy since the video emerged. It wasn’t me. Joking about Kate is one thing but we need to give her time now and I’m sure she’ll be back after Easter, like what was said in the first place. Since Kate has surgery, I have done gigs where I have walked in and people have said ‘there’s Kate” so it started as a joke around ‘we’ve found Kate’ but now it should stop really.”
What happened to Kate Middleton?
Kensington Palace announced that Kate Middleton had a “planned abdominal surgery” at The London Clinic on January 16, 2024. “The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement said. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
She has been seen on multiple occasions—with her mother who was driving her to appointments, and in a car with Prince William.
