Leave it to Kate Middleton to transform St. Patrick’s Day, a would-be raucous occasion, into an aspirational beauty event. The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in London in decidedly regal guise, her trademark brunette hair swept back into an elegant, slightly lifted chignon coupled with a spirited set of earthbound emerald drop earrings. Middleton embraced the chance to go green wholeheartedly, matching her jewel-toned Catherine Walker coat dress with a Lock & Co. hat that hovered just above the brows. But the real surprise came later that day: Arriving in Paris for a meeting with French President François Hollande, she shook out her formal bun, leaving her signature bouncy blowout to spill freely over shoulders. Proof that in the right hands, even letting one’s hair down is a move that can pack plenty of royal polish.
