Kate Middleton and Prince William carried out their first engagement in Boston this evening. Just mere hours after landing in the New England city, the Prince and Princess of Wales were welcomed by Boston's Mayor Michelle Wu and Governor-elect Maura Healey for at City Hall to kick off celebrations for Williams Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony, which is set to take place on Friday.

Kate made a quick outfit change from the Alexander McQueen pantsuit she wore earlier this afternoon and opted for an elegant green tartan dress from Burberry, which she wore under an emerald wool coat from McQueen. She wore her hair down and teamed the ensemble with matching pumps, a Mulberry top-handle purse, and earrings from sustainable (and wallet-friendly!) jewelry brand Shyla London.

Kate and William's three-day visit to Boston marks their first overseas trip as the Prince and Princess of Wales and since Queen Elizabeth died. They are scheduled to attend several engagements in Massachusetts's capitol, many of which will be focused on Earthshot and the work being done in Boston on climate change. The couple is also expected to make visits throughout the state to meet communities and further their work in other areas.

"Catherine and I are delighted to be back in the United States and are extremely grateful to Governor Baker and The First Lady of Massachusetts for their warm welcome into Boston," the Prince of Wales said in a statement earlier today. "On this, our first overseas visit since the death of my grandmother, I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts and particularly of Boston for their many tributes paid to the late Queen. She remembered her 1976 bicentennial visit with great fondness."

He concluded with, "My grandmother was one of life's optimists. And so am I. That is why last year we launched the Earthshot Prize with the ambition to create a truly global platform to inspire hope and urgent optimism as we look to save the future of our planet."
