There are very few childhood photos of Kate Middleton that her family has shared, but ahead of her "Together at Christmas" Carol Service airing, Kensington Palace has posted a never-before-seen snap of the Princess of Wales from Christmas 1983.

In the photo, Kate, who is just shy of her second birthday, sits at her family's dining room table, wearing a collared short, beaded necklace, and a black cardigan. In front of her is a candle centerpiece, and the mantle behind her is decorated for Christmas. She looks just like her youngest son, Prince Louis.

As this year's service was focused on early years, and Kate's Shaping Us campaign, per the Palace, they "will be inviting others to share images of their earliest Christmas’ on their social media channels in the lead up to Christmas Eve." Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, attended the Christmas carol service this year, as did her sister, Pippa.

In a promo for the service this weekend, the Princess said, "Christmas is a time when we come together and celebrate the birth of a newborn baby. The arrival of every baby is a precious and momentous time, it brings us together to reflect on new beginnings and brings hope for the future. Throughout our earliest interactions, relationships and experiences, with those who love us, even before we are born, we lay the foundations to so much of what that future will depend on. But only by valuing and supporting the vital role of the adults in a child's world can we hope to make a difference."
