Kate Middleton and Prince William are attending a very special event in honor of Sir David Attenborough today; the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on hand for the naming ceremony of the RRS Sir David Attenborough, a polar research ship, in Birkenhead.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore one of her go-to blue coats by Alexander McQueen, which she has worn on numerous occasions before. Today, she paired the staple with an Asprey clutch, navy heels, and diamond earrings. See her full look here:

Kate often recycles some of her favorite looks for outings. The Duchess previously wore this coat back in 2014 and in 2016.

Prince William and the beloved naturalist and broadcaster Attenborough have worked together on a number of special projects through the years. Earlier this year, Will was joined by Prince Charles and Prince Harry at the premiere of Netflix's Our Planet, a series narrated by Attenborough. In January 2019, Will and Attenborough shared the stage for a conversation on the environment during the World Economic Forum.

Today is a particularly exciting day for the royal family: William's cousin, Princess Beatrice, just announced her engagement. Beatrice will marry Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi next year, and Will and Kate will no doubt be on hand to celebrate their marriage.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte may have a special role in the wedding as well. The royal siblings served in the bridal party when Beatrice's sister Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank last year, and Beatrice may choose to include her relatives in the same way.
