  • Duchess Kate is now a royal patron of the British charity Family Action, a role handed down by the queen.

  • To celebrate the news, she made a previously unannounced visit to Peterley Manor Farm in Great Missenden, England to spend time with families supported by the organization.

After mingling with NATO leaders at Buckingham Palace last night, the Duchess of Cambridge traveled to Buckinghamshire in southeast England to ring in a new royal patronage handed over by the queen.

At Peterley Manor Farm in Great Missenden, Duchess Kate is meeting with families and children supported by the charity Family Action, a royal patronage previously held by the sovereign for the past 65 years. The 150-year-old organization provides support for families facing challenges such as mental health issues, domestic abuse, financial struggles, and others.

During today's event, Kate is set to join locals in holiday-themed activities, such as decorating and making "eco-friendly reindeer food." She'll also learn more about Family Action's work with vulnerable children, which ties in with her focus on early childhood development.

The royal arrived in a look fit for the season, in a bright red puffer coat layered over a forest green sweater. She completed the casual fit with dark-wash skinny jeans tucked into green chunky socks and brown ankle boots.

The outfit is a casual turn from yesterday's prim proper attire, which included dripping diamond earrings and a green long-sleeve dress, reportedly by her go-to designer Alexander McQueen.
