Kate Middleton and Dua Lipa Just Took Over Every Radio Station in the U.K.

Kate Middleton and Dua Lipa want you to check in on the people closest to you. On Monday, May 18, the Duchess of Cambridge and the pop star took over "every single radio station" in the U.K. to launch Mental Health Awareness Week with a special one-minute broadcast...along with some other famous British faces.

"We're living through a time which is taking its toll on everyone in different ways," Lipa said toward the beginning of the broadcast. "We can be scared, alone, and confused."

“We’re all connected," Prince William added after appearances by actor David Tennant, boxer Anthony Joshua, and more stars. "And sometimes just talking about how you’re feeling can make a big difference. So, right now, let’s join together across the U.K. and reach out to someone."

Middleton jumped in toward the end to encourage listeners and viewers to reach out to those who may be having a difficult time. “If you’re struggling, it’s important to talk about it," she implored. "Or if someone you know is acting differently, it’s okay to ask how they are. Use this moment to send a message.”

You can watch the entire broadcast, which reportedly reached 20 million people at the same time early Monday morning, below.

"One minute. Across every single radio station in the U.K.," the Kensington Royal Instagram caption about the broadcast reads. "To kick off #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, this year’s #MentalHealthMinute with @Heads_Together and @Radiocentre_uk is an important reminder that wherever or whoever you are, you are not alone."

Heads Together, which was founded by Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry in 2016, works with various partners around the U.K. to create an ongoing dialogue about mental health. “As we feel the effects of COVID-19 on the nation’s mental health, we will need to support one another more than ever," Jason Knauf, chief executive of The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, said, per People. "We will all need to feel more confident in reaching out for support if we need it and checking in on our loved ones. By bringing together the power of radio and social media, we’re delighted to help people connect to one another, and to access reliable, trusted information and resources from our charity partners.”

This is far from the first surprise Zoom call Kate Middleton and Prince William have joined to discuss mental health during the coronavirus pandemic, but we'll definitely never get tired of hearing from them on this important issue.
