Kate Middleton Chose a Gorgeous Oscar de la Renta Suit for Her Visit to the Royal Opera House

After a few weeks off for the December holidays, the Duchess of Cambridge is back at work, and has hit the ground running in 2019. Yesterday, she spent time with schoolchildren in a community garden, and even revealed that she's not quite sure if the Queen has ever eaten pizza.

This morning, she'll visit the costume department at the Royal Opera House, which creates the designs worn by the artists in both the ballet and the opera.

For today's appearance, the Duchess chose to wear a gorgeous purple Oscar de la Renta suit paired with Rupert Sanderson pumps.

Over the course of the engagement, the Duchess will visit the pattern room and the dye room to see costumes in progress, and she'll also meet with not only costumiers working on new shows, but also with Royal Ballet principals. She'll later watch the dancers rehearse the ballet, "The Two Pigeons."

While Prince Charles is president of the Royal Ballet, and patron of the Royal Opera, the Duchess has taken a keen interest in the institution, and even brought Princess Charlotte to see a rehearsal performance of the Nutcracker there back in December.

It's a busy day for royal appearances. In addition to Kate's trip to the Royal Opera House, Meghan is visiting Mayhew, an animal welfare organization, and one of her new patronages. And later in the evening, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend the premiere of Cirque du Soleil's Totem at Royal Albert Hall. The event will raise both funds and awareness for Prince Harry's charity Sentebale, which helps support young people affected by HIV.
