Kate Middleton Broke Out Her Wimbledon Wardrobe for a Very Special Occasion

The spirit of Wimbledon is alive and well … in Kate Middleton’s closet.

The annual tennis tournament was canceled this year due to coronavirus concerns, but that hasn’t stopped the royal super-fan from breaking out her Wimbledon wardrobe.

On Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge spoke with tennis players at Bond Primary School in South London over Zoom. As is Middleton’s Wimbledon tradition, she wore her green and purple bow pin — a signifier of her status as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (where Wimbledon is held annually).

But the brooch wasn’t Middleton’s only sartorial nod to Wimbledon season. The duchess donned a spring-y bright green belted HVN shirtdress dotted with tiny illustrated tennis players ($775; net-a-porter.com). A quirky pattern is definitely something of a departure from Middleton’s typical style, but perhaps lockdown has inspired her to experiment?

Middleton, who paired her dress with a low ponytail and small dangling earrings, surprised Bond Primary students with a special guest speaker: tennis champion Andy Murray.
