If you’re like us, then you’ve probably never met a pair of Kate Middleton shoes you didn’t like. We lusted after her sparkly Cinderella pumps, applauded her combat boots and immediately purchased the $80 ALDO block heels she rocked at Wimbledon. But there are a couple of extremely accessible pairs of shoes in the 37-year-old Duchess of Cambridge’s closet that don’t get enough credit: her New Balance sneakers.
Why? Well, in addition to being extremely comfortable (as this editor can confirm), her favorite athletic shoes are also currently on sale. Here, three ways the Duchess of Cambridge has styled her New Balances over the years (so you can copy later).
At the King’s Cup Regatta in August 2019
Middleton most recently styled her sporty chic tennies at the King’s Cup Regatta in Cowes on the Isle of Wight earlier this month when she faced off against (and lost to) Prince William. The duchess styled her navy shorts (!) and white-and-blue windbreaker with the New Balance Women’s Fresh Foam Arishi V1 Running Shoe in steel/thunder, which are now on sale on Amazon for $70.
Playing Soccer in Northern Ireland in February 2019
While playing “football” with young girls from the Irish Football Association’s “Shooting Stars” program in Northern Ireland earlier this year, Middleton donned the navy New Balance Fresh Foam Cruz v2 Nubuck sneaks, which are on sale for $68, down from $90. The catch? She was actually wearing a men’s version, so your size might not be available.
Racing Against Prince William for Heads Together in 2017
Her public love of these tennies began all the way back in 2017, when she raced against her now 37-year-old husband Prince William at the Team Heads Together London Marathon Training Day at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. She matched her red puffer jacket and black jeggings to her running shoes for the ultimate win. Although her exact pair isn’t available, this $60 option (originally $145) is a total steal.
