The Cambridges and Sussexes were standout guests at Prince Charles' private birthday party earlier this month, but it appears the royal Fab Four didn't stay long. According to The Telegraph, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle reportedly left the Buckingham Palace soirée early.

"They went before Prince Philip, which is quite unusual," a source told The Telegraph's Camilla Tominey. (For reference, the Prince is 97 and has retired from public engagements.) "Like most people their age, it seems they are leading very busy lives," the insider added.

The formal celebration, which took place on November 14, honored Prince Charles' 70th birthday. Royal guests included the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall; the Queen and Prince Philip; Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank; and Zara and Mike Tindall.

Details and photos from inside the party remain top-secret, but we do know that Her Majesty gave a rare personal speech dedicated to her son. Paparazzi from outside the Palace showed royals arriving, with Kate Middleton in an asymmetrical pink gown and large dangling earrings and Meghan Markle sporting chandelier earrings.

A number of events celebrated Prince Charles' 70th this year. In May, there was a garden party at Buckingham Palace, with representatives from charities of which the Prince of Wales is patron. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the event, held just days after their royal wedding. The Cambridges did not attend; Prince William was handling an engagement honoring the Manchester bombing victims and Kate Middleton was still on maternity leave.

There was also a concert gala honoring Prince Charles in October, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were on their royal tour in the Pacific, and Prince William and Kate Middleton were believed to be with their kids at their country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

However, the gang was all together for the Prince of Wales' birthday portraits, which were reportedly taken in mid-September in the gardens of Clarence House. Even all three of Prince Charles' grandchildren-Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis-were in the sweet family photos.
