The Minecraft movie is the place to be, apparently, as Kate McKinnon and Jemaine Clement join the already stacked cast list for the new film based on the popular video game.

Deadline shared the exclusive that McKinnon and Clement will join Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge in New Zealand, where production has commenced.

Warner Bros and Legendary are producing in partnership with Vertigo, Mojang/Microsoft and Jason Momoa's production company On the Roam.

Deadline says that the plot and scribes for the film are under wraps, but the current IMDb synopsis reads: The malevolent Ender Dragon sets out on a path of destruction, prompting a young girl and her group of unlikely adventurers to set out to save the Overworld.

Allison Schroeder and Peter Sollett are also credited for the screenplay, but perhaps that will change.

The two-time Primetime Emmy-winner Kate McKinnon starred in the summer blockbuster Barbie but is arguably best known for her work on Saturday Night Live! The actor and comedian has also starred in Paul Feig's 2016 Ghostbusters alongside Melissa McCarthy and fellow SNL stars Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones.

Jemaine Clement has been nominated for ten Primetime Emmys, most recently for his work in What We Do in the Shadows. Clement has also appeared in Avatar: The Way of Water, Men in Black 3 and lent his voice to the role of Tamatoa in Moana. According to IMDb, Clement has seven projects on the go right now, including Avatar 3, 4 and 5.
