Mindy Kaling and Kate Hudson

A new Mindy Kaling series is dribbling onto Netflix!

Kate Hudson has been tapped to play the lead in an untitled basketball comedy written by Kaling and fellow Mindy Project writers Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen. The Office alum took to her Instagram on Jan. 26 to celebrate Hudson's casting news, writing, "I love this woman! So excited to be doing this with @davidstassen @ikebarinholtz ❤️."

The forthcoming series is said to have been inspired by the president of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jeanie Buss, who is serving as an executive producer of the show. Netflix announced back in 2021 a straight-to-series order for a workplace comedy inspired by the front office of the Lakers.
