Kate Hudson is a bride-to-be. Hudson, 42, recently announced on Instagram that she and her boyfriend of five years, Danny Fujikawa, are getting married. In the Instagram picture, Hudson stares adoringly up at Fujikawa, wearing a ring on her finger. From the way they're dressed, it appears the couple was out for a casual walk when he popped the question. "Let’s go!" Hudson wrote in the caption, adding in emojis for a bride and groom.

Though his name has only recently come into our celebrity lexicon, Hudson and Fujikawa, 35, have been buds for 15 years. Hudson met Fujikawa, who is the step-bro of her best friend, when she was 23 and "enormously pregnant," she wrote in an Instagram tribute to their first date anniversary.

"We have been in the same circle for over a decade! A year ago today Danny took me on a hike and what I thought was just a hike with a family friend turned very quickly into an unexpected first date. No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move! And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter. So on our 15th year of knowing each other we were able to open our hearts to each other to feel so much pure love and it’s been truly incredible!" she shared, sealing the gram with a little #LoveThisMan #WhatAYear.

So, now it's our turn to get acquainted with Kate Hudson's soon-to-be husband, and father of their nearly three-year-old daughter Rani Rose.

otherwise known as the gent behind some of the cutest pics on Instagram.

Fujikawa was in a band.

Once upon a time, he was the lead singer (and guitarist) for Chief, a folk rock band he started with his brother. They no longer croon together.

Before dating Fujikawa, Hudson was with Chris Robinson of the Black Keys and Matthew Bellamy of Muse, so evidently she has an ear for music (or just a very specific type).

Which led Fujikawa to start his own record company.

He created the label Lightwave in 2013 along with a fellow frontman as a way to "release music on their own terms," according to the Facebook "About Us" page. They're really into promoting a band called the Shimmies, a.k.a. "Northern California's best kept secret."

He appears to have a pet duck.

But his daughter, Rani comes first.

She's named after his grandfather Ron Fujikawa. "Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor," Hudson wrote on Instagram when their precious one was born.

Rani is kid sister to Ryder Russell Robinson, 17, and Bingham Hawn Bellamy, 10, children Hudson shares with Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy respectively.

He's really embracing his blended family.

Fujikawa seems to embrace his role of not just father, but stepdad to Hudson's children. Hudson shared a photo of her whole crew together, with the caption, "My loves of my life."

Though he didn't graduate, Fujikawa went to New York University.

But he "left early to travel the world and play musique," he wrote on LinkedIn. By the way, that's his spelling of "musique," not ours.

He has Japanese heritage.

Here's a lovely photo of his Ojisan and Obachan, or grandpa and grandma in Japanese, as he explains.

He's comfortable with P.D.A.

Hudson told E! Online that Fujikawa is a "real keeper" and that he's acclimating nicely to Hollywood life.

And he's also a super chill shopper.

You won't find Fujikawa sitting on the "man couch" while Hudson peruses the racks. He's right there with her answering all of the tough questions like "Do I need another grey sweater?" Yes. The answer is always yes.

Keanu Reeves is his dopplegänger.

Well, just in this photo, but not bad, right?

But most importantly, he's the love of Hudson's life.

Or so she says in this caption.

And again, in these beautiful words she shared on his birthday in June.

"This man has given me the most beautiful gifts life can give and the depth of gratitude I feel for the day he was born is beyond any measured spoken word or post. I believe that this gratitude exists and is present in our daughters joy and her magical spirit. Thank you Mama Fuj and Papa Fuj for raising this beautiful roller coaster ride of a special human. The ups and downs and sideways were all worth it 🙏❤️"
