During a recent episode of Kelly Ripa's Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast, Kate talked about how the media treated her in the 2000s and how it affected her own self-image.

“They were so mean to women,” Kate said, before citing "the body shaming from being too skinny, to too fat, to then going up your skirt and from the cellulite.”

She also explained that the media's fixation on her meant that she essentially was unable to interact with men at all without rumors that she was in a relationship with them.

“[I] couldn’t speak to a man without being partnered with him," she recalled. "Like, literally, I couldn’t sit and say hello to someone.”

“There was so much of it at such a rate that I couldn’t in any way comprehend, that I just realized I need to figure out how to not care about any of this,” Kate explained, before reasoning out how she dealt with all the unwanted media treatment.
