Kate Beckinsale Once Tried to Convince Jimmy Fallon That Ryan Reynolds Is Her Celebrity Doppelgänger

We completely forgot about this pop culture moment. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon recently shared a clip from 2019 to its official Instagram account in which Kate Beckinsale, 49, tried to convince host Fallon that Free Guy star Ryan Reynolds, 46, is her celebrity lookalike.

The snippet was posted on Thursday, June 1, with a caption that read, “@katebeckinsale thinks she looks like @vancityreynolds [laughing emoji] #FallonFlashback.”

In the video, the Click actress makes her argument to Fallon, stating, “I look exactly like Ryan Reynolds. Like, in a shocking way.”

She then goes on to say: “Like...sometimes I see a bus going by with a poster, and I think, ‘Damn, I look hot—oh wait. It’s not me...also, I never did that movie. I’ve been at home.”

Fallon then shows the audience side-by-side pictures of Beckinsale and Reynolds. (We'll admit, we can see a slight resemblance.) “Do you see it?” Beckinsale asks the talk show host. “That's weird, right?”

While Fallon said he didn't really see the resemblance, he asked if the two had ever worked together. In response, Beckinsale said: “No, I can’t be in the same room as him. One of us would, I think, explode or something would happen.”

She humorously added, “But I have had boyfriends be in the same room as him when I wasn’t there and feel really compromising, or feel like, way too intimate. They just feel like they sort of know things about his undercarriage that they shouldn’t, but they don’t.”

That same year, Reynolds responded to the insinuation that he and Beckinsale were doppelgängers. “It is like looking in a mirror,” the Green Lantern actor joked on the TODAY show. “This has been something I've heard for a long time. Other people have said it to me as well. We met one time, but yeah, I [have heard it].”
