Kate Beckinsale, 45, Flaunts Rock-Hard Abs in Inspiring Instagram Photo

At 45, Kate Beckinsale’s body is stronger than ever. The Underworld star showed off her rock hard abs on Instagram on Wednesday, proving that her devotion to fitness is doing her body good!

In the selfie, taken in a gym locker room mirror belonging to her trainer, Gunnar Peterson, the stunning actress appears to have just finished a workout. Clad in a sports bra and leggings, Beckinsale’s clearly defined abs are the focal point of the photo (however, her toned arms are just as impressive).

“This is the second time I’ve found ectoplasm on the bathroom mirrors in the gym ever since @gunnarfitness got all excited about working with @kingjames what can it mean,” she cheekily captioned the image. (Peterson, who has been training her for many years, is the director of strength and endurance training for the Los Angeles Lakers, who recently signed LeBron James.)

While Beckinsale has always maintained a slim figure as a devoted yogi, it wasn’t until recent years that she amped up her routine by adding “hardcore” workouts with Peterson. During filming the fifth installment of the Underworld franchise, Blood Wars, the two began training together five or six times a week.

“I’m the fittest I’ve ever been,” Beckinsale told Shape in 2016. So just what is she doing to turn back time? In her interview, Beckinsale revealed her secret is “circuit training interspersed with brutal cardio, such as crazy things on a non-motorized treadmill.” She describes the regimen as “torture,” but it’s not all bad. “

The thing I like about circuit training is that you’re never doing one thing for very long,” she continued. “You get to the point where you almost can’t bear it, and it changes to something else.”

Beckinsale maintains that her training session with Peterson have been a game-changer for her-she’s not just looking better, but feeling better too. “I have a lot of internal energy, and intense exercise helps me channel that energy. I find balance by doing a workout that makes me pour sweat. I never was that girl before, but I am now."

As for her diet, she avoids alcohol and maintains that she eats “clean,” which entails “a lot of sautéed vegetables like Brussels sprouts and broccoli and chicken and fish.” Clearly all of her hard work is paying off!
