Smash play on "Supermodel" from the Clueless soundtrack, because we're here to talk about Karlie Kloss. More specifically, how much money she makes—because we just found out her per-step rate and our minds are sufficiently blown enough that a net worth deep dive is fully in order.

On top of walking in a gazillion runway shoes, Karlie has done advertising work for the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Lauren, Gap, Dior, Oscar de La Renta, Uniqlo, Adidas, and Marc Jacobs, to name a few. She's also covered numerous magazines, including at least 40 issues of Vogue. So, how much has Karlie made over the years? Keep reading if your heart can take it.

Karlie Was the Second Highest Paid Supermodel in 2018

Forbes analyzed the pre-tax/pre-fee earnings of models from June 1, 2017 through June 1, 2018, and during this period alone Karlie made $13 million. The only model who made more than her? Kendall Jenner, who earned $22.5 million.

A couple years before that (2016, specifically), Karlie and Kendall were tied as the second biggest earners, making $10 million each. Forbes reported that Karlie had doubled her income since the year before by "clocking more campaigns than any other model on the ranking" including with Express, L’Oréal and Swarovski.

FYI: While Karlie doesn't currently walk in quite as many runways as she did back in the day, she still does a ton of work with brands!

She Made a Ton as a Victoria's Secret Angel

There isn't any concrete evidence about how much Victoria's Secret paid its Angels, but there are unverified reports they made between $100,000-$1,000,000—with claims that Karlie was making about $5 million a year during her Angel days.

Karlie obviously no longer works for Victoria's Secret and revealed she cut ties with the brand because she "didn’t feel it was an image that was truly reflective of who I am and the kind of message I want to send to young women around the world about what it means to be beautiful." She added, “I think that was a pivotal moment in me stepping into my power as a feminist. Being able to make my own choices and my own narrative, whether through the companies I choose to work with, or through the image I put out to the world.”

How Much Does Karlie Get Paid to Walk Runways?

Models' salaries vary wildly, but Karlie reportedly gets paid a ton to walk in designer shows. A truly wild example? Someone did the math, and Karlie allegedly earned $299 for every step she took in 2015, according to a report in The Daily Mail.

To be clear, this is unfortunately not representative of the amount most models earn. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (via Insider) back in 2018, models in NYC make around $48,130 a year on average.

As founder and executive director of the Models Alliance Sara Ziff told The Daily Beast (via Insider), "Models—many of whom are minors—have low bargaining power and are frequently not paid all of their earned wages, are paid wages late, are paid only after complaining about non-payment, are paid in 'trade' instead of money, or are simply not paid at all."

Reminder: She Hosted Project Runway

No word on what her salary was, but considering contestants won $250,000 as the grand prize, going to assume it's at least that!
