New Kanye West Merch Might Be on the Way

Along with a couple new albums, it looks like Kanye will also bless us with a variety of clothes.

After a couple days of sending out some rather out-there tweets—disquisitions about his forthcoming book, and claims that Nike copied the design of his shoes—Kanye West hit upon something that struck universal joy: the announcement of a new solo album on June 1 plus another album made with Kid Cudi under the name Kids See Ghost to come out a week later, on June 8th. And while sometimes Kanye's tweets can feel like genuine of-the-moment thoughts that he decides to whip into the universe, there's definitely been some thought—and legal maneuvering—behind the Kids See Ghost project.

There are already a number of trademarks registered to the name by Getting Out Our Dreams II, LLC, aka GOOD Music, aka Kanye's label. There's a trademark for the obvious stuff that accompanies an album release—music videos, streaming of music, audio, posters. But there's another trademark that sticks out to us: one for a whole closet's worth of clothes. The entire list of items is too large to print in full, but highlights include: cardigans, culottes, cargo pants, rompers, pocket squares, and slippers along with the standard Kanye stuff, like tees and sweatshirts. It's likely that the trademark is crafted to be as all-encompassing as possible, but it's hard not to get excited about the idea of some collaborative Kanye and Kid Cudi cardigans and culottes printed with the Kids See Ghost moniker. And if all we get is tees, we'll be plenty happy.

It really wouldn't be a new Kanye album without the promise of corresponding merch. After his last release, The Life of the Pablo, pop-ups sprung up in various cities and people lined up for hours hoping to buy the long-sleeve, gothic-font tees and hoodies. Since he's announced the release date of his own albums, Kanye's also gone on to announce what seem to be dates for new Pusha T and Teyana Taylor joints, too. And the Kids See Ghost trademarks have us feeling pretty optimistic that the announcement of merch isn't too far off.
