Kanye West May Have Skipped the 10th Anniversary of Ruining Taylor Swift’s VMAs Speech to Go to The Cheesecake Factory
Kanye West isn’t at the MTV VMAs tonight.
It’s the 10th anniversary of when he interrupted Taylor Swift’s VMAs speech and said Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.
The MTV VMAs are fully underway and there has been a lot of booing (Sebastian Maniscalco is canceled, according to Twitter), confusion (Taylor Swift’s performance was awkward), and excitement (hell yes, Lizzo!). Amid all this excitement, it’s important to remember one of the main reasons we’re gathered on our couches today. Yeah, we’re here for the music videos, but this year is also a big one because it’s the 10th anniversary of the night when Kanye West interrupted Taylor’s VMAs speech to say that Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. With it being such a momentous night, one would think Kanye would show up. But one would be wrong because Kanye is in Ohio chilling at The Cheesecake Factory.
While Taylor has been promoting her new album and publishing diary entries about that horrible night, Kanye has been lying low in Dayton and going to Cheesecake Factory two days in a row. TBH, it’s a big mood.
According to Page Six, Kim and Kanye went to Cheesecake on Friday and Saturday, and he stayed in Ohio on Sunday for a special Sunday Service session to honor the victims of the mass shooting earlier this month. And according to Kim’s Instagram Story, he was fully unbothered during Sunday Service and while celebrating Dave Chappelle’s birthday last night.
Kim hasn’t posted about Kanye in a few hours, so it’s not totally clear where he is right now, but I like to imagine he’s in a food coma after too many avocado egg rolls and key lime cheesecake slices.
