Looks like Kanye West is switching his name up, with multiple outlets reporting that the rapper and designer has filed legal documents to change his moniker to Ye. TMZ was first to report the news, revealing that Ye *just* filed legal docs in Los Angeles, and that the process should be pretty seamless. The outlet notes that he's hoping to remove his last and middle names as well, requesting "that the court decree the following name changes” from Kanye Omari West to just Ye.

Back in 2018, Ye indicated that he was interested in changing his name, tweeting at the time “The being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE."

Us Weekly notes that he also talked about the meaning behind the name Ye (which is also the title of his eighth studio album) with radio host Big Boy that same year, saying "I wanted something to match my energy. I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means ‘you.’ So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye — just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are.”

Ye is currently gearing up for another Donda listening party in Chicago which is set to take place tonight, so stay tuned in case he mentions his name change!
