  • Kaley Cuoco and her trainer shared the 10-minute treadmill workout and her trick that she says is “amazing for your butt and legs.”

  • “Putting that incline up is so good for your muscles, and for your circulation,” she said.

  • The workout has been her go-to since becoming a mom.

Kaley Cuoco’s fitness routine has evolved since she became a mom—first, she had to pivot to a “no-hands” workout to avoid wrist pain caused by holding her daughter, Matilda, and now, she’s opting for an easy, accessible (but still very effective!) 10-minute treadmill workout to maximize family time, feel her best, and get “amazing” toned “butt and legs.”

“Putting that incline up is so good for your muscles, and for your circulation,” the 37-year-old recently told Today. “I’ll also walk backward, which is amazing for your butt and legs. It pretty much works everything.”

The high-intensity interval training (HIIT) routine is made up of 10 rounds, each one minute long with 30 seconds of activity and 30 seconds of rest. The Big Bang Theory star said she starts out at a 1% incline and 6.4 speed, then each round, she increases the intensity, adding 1% incline and.2 speed.

Cuoco and her trainer, Ryan Sorensen, outlined the specific routine as follows:

  1. Start at 1% incline and 6.4 speed

  2. Walk for 30 seconds

  3. Rest for 30 seconds (walking at a pace of your choice)

  4. Increase the incline by 1% and speed by.2

  5. Repeat steps two through for 10 rounds total

If Cuoco wants to up the ante, she goes for a longer, more intense session of about 25 minutes, Sorensen told Today. When walking backward, he adjusts the treadmill’s settings accordingly: He sets a “steep” incline of 12 to 15% and the speed to a “slow-walking pace” of 1.8 to 2.2 miles per hour.

Treadmill workouts are accessible yet thorough, which makes them ideal for transitioning back to exercise after Cuoco had Matilda in March. However, she admitted that motherhood can sometimes make it difficult to prioritize movement.

“But then I remind myself that it’s just an hour of my day, and like eating, it’s important for my body and my heart,” she told Today. “And you never leave a workout and go, ‘I wish I didn’t do that.’ Even if it wasn’t the workout you envisioned, even if it was a little bit more low-key. Getting a good sweat sets the whole tone for the day.”

As a Brooks Running Shoes partner, Cuoco shared that her favorite Brooks sneakers—the Ghost Max series—make the treadmill experience all the more supported and enjoyable. “I bought my first pair and it was a game changer. Now it’s all I wear,” she said. “I train in them, I walk the dog in them. I also feel like nowadays, sneakers are so freaking cool—you wear them with a dress and look as cute as can be. I don’t even own heels anymore.”

Shop her favorite sneakers below, and be fully prepared the next time you step on the treadmill.
