Kaitlyn Dever Made a Statement for Sustainability on the Oscars 2020 Red Carpet

Her Louis Vuitton gown was sustainably and ethically made.

Booksmart star Kaitlyn Dever rocked a ruby red strapless Louis Vuitton gown that matched the Oscars 2020 red carpet, but the gown's gorgeous hue and classic silhouette wasn't the best part about her big moment: it was the fact that the dress was sustainably made.

"This is a completely sustainable dress made by Louis Vuitton; I'm here supporting sustainable clothing," she told E! regarding her look. "It's really simple ... it's a matter of letting it be a part of your lifestyle, it's just about getting used to it," Kaitlyn shared regarding how everyone can incorporate more sustainability into their daily life. "With fashion, I think you can maybe think a bit before you buy something brand new and I think you can support vintage ... and also look into the brands you're supporting."

The gown was covered in red Swarovski crystals and featured a heart-shaped strapless neckline. Kaitlyn paired her dress with a vintage-inspired wrap and delicate diamond necklace, plus dangling diamond earrings. Her beauty look was just as glam, with graphic black cateye liner and a neutral lip.

Louis Vuitton is committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility; the brand has been taking important steps to reduce its carbon footprint and waste. Much of the fashion industry has begun to focus more on environmental responsibility; Vogue Italia even eschewed traditional photoshoots for its January 2020 issue, citing high costs and use of resources.

Kaitlyn Dever's show-stopping Oscars dress is the perfect example of how sustainability is the new glamour, and we think other celebs will soon be following suit.
