  • Former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe said she was crying before her first date with Jason Tartick.

  • He also cried and had a major eye infection that almost caused him to cancel.

To refresh your memory: Former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe called off her engagement with Shawn Booth last year and started dating Jason Tartick from Becca Kufrin’s season shortly after. Since then, they’ve both been really open about their “life-changing” relationship and the first time they dry humped. And speaking of firsts, Kaitlyn just posted a lengthy caption about how their first date actually went and I can’t stop laughing and sobbing simultaneously.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of their first date, Kaitlyn gave her Instagram followers an “emotional alert” before diving into how she and Jason both cried before they met at a podcast studio. She recalled, “I almost canceled because I had been bawling my eyes out in an Uber, going through some crap, and I was crying on FaceTime to my dad when he came in.”

Luckily, though, it wasn’t awkward at all because Jason hugged her and told her he was just crying at a charity event. And get this: Jason was like, “Let’s have a soft Tuesday.” I only recognize taco and tequila Tuesdays, so I have no clue what the hell that means but it sounds so sweet that I’m sobbing.

Also, know that Jason was dealing an eye infection, which Kaitlyn called a “Cyclopes eye,” that almost caused him to cancel.

But even though everything seemed to be going wrong for them that day, Jason brought a bottle of wine and his positive energy turned her whole day around. She finished her story with a shout-out to him that said:

“J, I met you 365 days ago and from what felt like was a goofy friendship, turned into a beautiful love story. Thank you for always lifting me up, being my rock, and thank you for stepping foot into that studio with your Cyclopes eye. You’re my Lobster.”
