Kaia Gerber Debuted a Short New Bob

Kaia Gerber is heading into the rapidly approaching new year with a drastic change to her usual hairstyle. The model has spent much of 2019 inspiring us with her endlessly evolving fashion choices, and just when we thought we had seen it all, she revealed another major change.

Over the weekend, Kaia showed off a very short bob on Instagram, The Daily Mail points out. In a now expired Instagram story, she captioned a selfie of her chop with the words, "Can't seem to keep my hair on my head." The accompanying image had Kaia posing in a mirror, showing off a cut that has her hair hitting just a touch above her chin.

Kaia then shared another selfie, demonstrating how the bob looked when tucked behind her ears. Pairing the look with a blazer, tee, and jeans, she stood next to some flowers, writing, "Flower arrangement extraordinaire." The selfie, and the cut, earned the approval of Bella Hadid, who wrote, "dead for this hair."

Although Kaia had previously debuted a "drama cut" over the summer, this style is the shorter we've seen her hair yet. Her previous short style had followed other major moments in hairdo history that included faux baby bangs for the runway and a brief stint with blonde back in 2016.

And, based on a past interview, it's likely this won't be the last time that Kaia surprises us with a new style. Back in September, she spoke with Vogue, detailing how her work in the modeling industry had often made her feel as if she had to have long hair and namechecking Kurt Cobain as her main inspo for going short. "For so long I felt this pressure to have the long, pretty hair that everyone expects you to have," she said. "Then I asked myself who I was doing that for – I could cut my hair if I wanted to cut my hair. And I did.”

It's great to see that Kaia is now unafraid to try something new, and with her willingness to go shorter and shorter, there's no telling whether we might see her rocking a pixie cut, or even a shaved style next.
