Kaia Gerber's New Bob Has Me Wondering What Decade It Is

Jackie O., is that You?

Kaia Gerber continues to crush fashion month. On February 21, the model strutted her stuff on the Moschino runway in Milan. In addition to looking like mom Cindy Crawford, per usual, the international supermodel channeled another iconic woman from history: Jackie Kennedy.

Kaia took to the catwalk in a '60s-inspired bob and signature cat eye, paired with a red suit and pillbox hat that looked like something the former First Lady would have worn. She also hit the catwalk in a long-sleeved, silver sequin dress that would have been perfect for the 1961 Inaugural Ball.

After opening the show, Kaia was followed by an entire cast of Jackie O. lookalikes, including Gigi and Bella Hadid who rocked similarly styled bouffants and skirt suits. Other models gave their retro look a more futuristic feel with head-to-toe body paint, which made them look like super-chic aliens who went shopping at a vintage store then came to invade fashion week. A specific reference, to be sure, but hey – it works.

Before you get to attached to the new look, rest assured that the #throwback styles were anything but permanent. Backstage, hairstylist Paul Hanlon told Vogue that he and his team spent days prepping the wigs to match them to each model's natural hair colors and then sculpting them into the perfect rounded shape. He set them with lots (and lots) of L'Oréal’s Elnett Satin Hairspray, and described them as “a bit Jetson-like with the flicks at the ends.”

Talk about beauty and hair-spiration from the past, present and future, though safe to say we won't be trying the whole head-to-toe body paint thing at home.
