This sweet dog is a hero.

A 16-year-old K-9 named Dexter got the sweetest send-off this week from the The Pennsboro Police Department in West Virginia. @Kendalls.mama.1128 uploaded the video to TikTok of her partner, Chief Travis Snuffer and his canine companion  listening to the touching retirement message. Snuffer and Dexter have been partners for 12 years.

Watch the following video, it's just so heartwarming,

In the video you can hear a first responder say, "Thank you, K-9 Dexter for all your hard work and making sure your handler made it home safely every evening. Enjoy your retirement. You’ve earned it." @Shilo comments, "Great job, K9 Dexter. You have me crying watching this. I hope you have a fabulous retirement, sweet boy." @JazzyOnair congratulates this brave pup and replies, "Dexter you handsome boy! Enjoy you retirement! You get all the pup cups! Salute to you!" @TheDiva73 finds this as touching as we do and says, "I love these retirements, I cry every time but it's nice to see. Happy retirement!" @Kneekneebee says, "The goodest boy. May he have the comfiest bed to rest on for the remainder of his years. Thank you for your service, Dexter."

Thanks to Dexter and his handler for all their years of service. We hope he has the best retirement ever filled with treats, belly rubs and all the squirrels he can chase. That a boy Dexter!
