K-Swiss to Release a Magic: The Gathering Shoe Based on a Beloved Character in the Game

K-Swiss has engaged in several nontraditional collaborations in recent memory, such as its Harry Potter and Breaking Bad lineups, which generated interest in the heritage athletic brand. It’s next collection, however, may be its most atypical yet.

Arriving at the top of September is a collaboration with collectible and digital card game, Magic: The Gathering. The result of the partnership is a new iteration of the Gstaad ’86 sneaker, which is limited to just 300 pairs.

According to K-Swiss, the shoe is inspired by one of the game’s most popular characters, Jace Beleren — specifically his costume design. To pull this look off, K-Swiss equipped its Gstaad ’86 with premium leather overlays and underlays on the upper, which are paired with glow-in-the-dark elements.

Other standout elements specific to the character and the game are its metal lace clip-ons, artwork of Beleren on the sockliner and stamped Magic: The Gathering branding on the tongue. It also features leather collar lining, printed designs, rubber outsoles and an extra set of laces. The collab will come packaged with a special-edition box and tissue paper.

The limited-edition Magic: The Gathering x K-Swiss Gstaad ’86 arrives on Sept. 1 exclusively via hasbropulse.com with a $100 retail price.
