K-Pop Star Sulli Has Died At Age 25 At Her Home In South Korea

Choi Jin-ri, best known by her K-pop stage name Sulli, was found dead at her home on Oct. 14. She was 25 years old. Sulli's manager went to check on the singer and actress on Monday afternoon. When he arrived, he found her dead on the second floor of her home in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam, South Korea. Her manager last spoke to her on Sunday evening and was unable to reach her on Monday morning.

The police investigations into her death are ongoing. Police found a note at the scene but have not analyzed it yet, CNN reported. At this time, the police believe her cause of death is suicide. "So far, it seems she killed herself, but we will leave all possibilities open and investigate," a police official told the publication.

Prior to her death, Sulli was suffering from severe depression, Reuters reported. She also was outspoken about cyber bullying. Sulli recently appeared with other K-pop stars on a television program and discussed her experiences with bullying and negative comments online, per the publication.

Sulli worked as a child actress, before joining the girl group f(x) in 2009. F(x) became one of the most popular girl groups in South Korea, leading worldwide interest in K-pop. She sang with the group until 2015, when she left to concentrate on acting and launch her solo career. In June 2019, Sulli released her first single, "Goblin," as a solo artist.
