The K-Pop Effect Reaches Royal Heights as BLACKPINK Receive Honorary MBEs

BLACKPINK have been spotted inside London's Buckingham Palace, and for good reason. The South Korean girl group were just awarded honorary MBEs (which stands for member of the British Empire).

The ceremony comes shortly after South Korea's president, Yoon Suk Yeol, began his state visit, whereby King Charles was heard praising the undeniable global reach of Korean pop culture. Alongside their virality, BLACKPINK were also noted for their support of environmental causes. "I can only admire how they can prioritise these vital issues, as well as being global superstars, the King said.

As ambassadors for the annual COP climate change summit, BLACKPINK has also been known to support the UN's sustainable development goals. As a result, the K-pop group attended a ceremony in Buckingham Palace, with Rose, Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa in attendance, followed by a state banquet on November 21.
