Justin Timberlake stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night, and perhaps because Travis Kelce is one of the most famous people on the planet right now, the two friends told a story in which the Kansas City Chiefs center once almost ended the singer's life.

As Fallon explained, for the last two years he and Timberlake have competed in a golf invitational tournament in Las Vegas. He then asked Timberlake if he remembered when he hit a bunker shot. "So we're playing, I'm in the bunker, so whatever," Fallon recalled. "Justin goes, 'Uh, yeah dude, you gotta hit it up. Come on, you gotta land it.'"

At that point, Fallon mentioned that he and Timberlake were playing against Kelce and his teammate, quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Setting up the scene, Timberlake said he coached the late night host. "I was like, 'OK, open your stance a little bit, fig your feet into the sand. Now, you see your club face, you want to open it up..."

The pair then cut to video footage of the shoot, which showed Fallon successfully hitting the ball out of the sand. And what's more, it rolled straight into the hole. Everyone standing around immediately began freaking out, as Timberlake said he "hasn't run that fast, since" and the six-foot-five, 250-pound Kelce grabbed Fallon and lifted him up right off his feet.

"Even the other team was rooting for me. That’s how bad I am,” Fallon said of the moment.

Timberlake then asked if the video kept going, "because Travis Kelce almost—I saw my life flash before my eyes." He said that the 34-year-old center rushed towards him to do a celebratory side bump.

"And I was like, he’s doing it! I have to do it! And I forgot that he weighs like 80 pounds more than me." Cutting back to the footage, Kelce can be seen heading straight for the singer like a speeding locomotive, who attempted to return the gesture but got knocked clear off his feet. For his part, Kelce threw his arms up into the air in a comic gesture.

"Now, while that may not look like much, my neck, for like a week," Timberlake added, trailing off. "I was like hey guys' ... 'What happened to you?' ... 'Travis Kelce.'"
