Justin Timberlake Apologizes to Jessica Biel for Cheating Rumors
In case you’ve been logged off for the past week and a half (and good for you, if that’s the case), you’ve probably seen the photos of Justin Timberlake getting cozy with his costar Alisha Wainwright, first published in the Daily Mail. The two are currently shooting the movie Palmer in New Orleans, and in the shots (and video) they are seen holding hands and appear to be quite affectionate.
Until now, Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel, have remained silent on the matter. Sources, however, told E! News, “There is absolutely nothing going on between them…. They were out with all the cast, crew, makeup artists, and everyone was just hanging out in a social setting. They are just working together. No validity to any other rumor other than that they are filming together.” But last night (December 5) Timberlake posted a very public apology to his wife and family on Instagram. “I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people that I love,” he wrote. “A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement—but let me be clear—nothing happened between me and my costar.
“I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better,” he continued. “This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it.”
Many commenters on the post were less than thrilled with Timberlake's apology. “I can’t believe you plugged the movie after holding hands with someone else and blaming that on the alcohol. That said, I hope that your family unit heals and recovers well from this mistake. That’s what matters most of all,” one wrote. Another said, “If you were my man that shit wouldn’t be flyin! Was Jessica at home taking care of your son while you were out acting a fool with your co-workers? Disappointing.”
Biel has yet to comment publicly, though sources have told E! News they think the couple will stay together.
“Their marriage will survive. He feels guilty and will make it up to her. She is very good to him and he knows how lucky he is,” the source said. “He says it was not a big deal, they were all hanging out together, and that's the end of the story.”
