Almost a year after filing for divorce from Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause, actor Justin Hartley is "really happy" with his life.

On Thursday, the This Is Us star spoke with Bevy Smith on Radio Andy. Smith took no time beating around the bush. "When I looked you up to do this interview, there was all this personal crap all around," she told him, referring to the news surrounding his divorce from Stause. "I thought, this is a d*mn shame because now I have to wade through all this personal stuff to get to the real actor."

Hartley, 43, replied that "this country has a sensational appetite for gossip and for clickbait stuff." While finding himself at the center of this news, he said it doesn't bother him too much. "People that I hang out with form opinions based on facts, and not...well, bologna."

He explained that he cautions his 16-year-old daughter, Isabella Hartley, whom he shares with first ex-wife Lindsay Korman-Hartley, about the media. "You can’t — you really can’t just believe something because you read it," he said.

Hartley conveyed to Smith that he wishes people would do their research before believing something about his life. However, he added that he understands why people feed into it. "If they’re getting entertainment from that, I think it sort of comes with the territory, but I’ve also sort of always had this view that I will have a public life, but I will be very private about my personal affairs." Overall, Hartley seems unbothered by what is being said about him. He revealed that he has no complaints about his life at the moment.

"I’m happy with my career. I’m happy with my personal life," he said. "I’m healthy, I’m safe. I’m, I mean, all of those things. So, I’m very thankful," he told Smith.

While Hartley filed for divorce from Stause in November 2019, the news further gained momentum in August when Selling Sunset season three was released on Netflix. During the season, an emotional Stause revealed to her co-star Mary Fitzgerald that Hartley had divorced her over a text message.

After the show’s release, a source told Us Weekly that Hartley was "irritated that [Chrishell was] airing their private information publicly and knows there is more to the story than is being told." A different source also told the outlet that month that Hartley "is a great, stand-up guy, and he wants to move on with his life in a classy way" and that his friends are "glad" that his estranged wife is “no longer in his life.”

Hartley is currently dating his former The Young and the Restless costar Sofia Pernas. Stause, who is single, recently opened up about how "painful" it was to see him moving on. However, she's very excited to start dating again when the right person comes along.
