Justin Fields would love to have Tee Higgins join the Bears

The Bears look like they could have their franchise quarterback in Justin Fields. Now, it’s up to them to build around him in order to maximize his potential.
When looking at the young quarterbacks who have taken a big step forward, a common denominator is a top wide receiver. Whether it’s Jalen Hurts with A.J. Brown, Josh Allen with Stefon Diggs or Tua Tagovailoa with Tyreek Hill, NFL teams have gone out and gotten their quarterbacks a WR1.
Could Tee Higgins be that guy for Fields?
There’s been no evidence to suggest that the Bengals are even remotely interested in trading Higgins. And even Higgins himself said he’s like to remain in Cincinnati for a long time.
Still, anything is possible in this league. So what would Fields think about the Bears possibly trading for Higgins?
“That would be awesome,” Fields told USA Today’s Sports Seriously.
Fields explained they’re both represented by the same sports agency, and they see each other once a year during an offseason workout.
Higgins is part of a one-two punch at wide receiver for the Bengals. Higgins is a No. 1 receiver who’s unofficially the No. 2 wideout behind Ja’Marr Chase.
Higgins, who’s just 24 years old, is coming off back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons. He’s an ideal big-bodied receiver who is a true playmaker, and Fields had nothing but praise for Higgins.
“Great player. Great size. Great receiver and he’s just really smooth,” Fields said. “Of course the things he can do on the outside with the jump balls, route running. He’s an awesome player for sure.”
Higgins is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and he’s up for an extension. But considering the Bengals will have to pay quarterback Joe Burrow and receiver Ja’Marr Chase in a couple of years, can they afford all three?
Before Chase was WR1, Higgins was the guy in Cincinnati. So he’ll likely be looking for a big pay day. Bears fans have seen what happens when there’s a mutual interest in returning but both sides can’t find common ground.
If the Bengals elect to explore a trade for Higgins, Bear general manager Ryan Poles should be on the phone inquiring about a price.
