Justin Bieber Doesn't Follow Hailey Baldwin on Instagram

In case you missed the exciting news, Justin Bieber has confirmed the rumors and announced his engagement to Hailey Baldwin.

The Instagram confirmation of their forthcoming nuptials is certainly exciting, but as one person on Twitter noted, there's something a tad amiss about Justin's Instagram activity. According to Sam Stryker, a senior editor at BuzzFeed, one member of the newly engaged couple isn't following the other on Instagram. "Justin Bieber just announced his engagement to Hailey Baldwin on Instagram but he didn’t tag her and he DOES NOT EVEN FOLLOW HER HDHSHSHAHSHSH," he wrote. He later reported the news for BuzzFeed.

And it's true. If you search Justin's followers, the only "Hailey" he's following is Hailee Steinfeld, even though his future wife follows Justin. Sam wasn't the only one to notice this social media etiquette breach. Others on Twitter also picked up on the fact that Justin has not yet adhered to the "follow for follow" rule. One person pointed out that even though "social media isn’t everything," it's still a bit unusual for the two not to follow each other.

Meanwhile, one person used a little Twitter science for their theory, tweeting, "Justin Bieber’s engaged to Hailey Baldwin. Justin bieber does not follow Hailey Baldwin. Justin bieber does not follow me. I am engaged to Justin bieber."

As of Tuesday (July 10) morning, Justin has not yet followed Hailey on Instagram, but there are a number of reasons why he may not yet be among the many who follow the model on Instagram.

Whether he's forgotten to press follow back or maybe he's just been too busy (he did just get engaged and pen a lengthy Instagram post about it), it's obvious that the two are close, and we probably shouldn't read too much into it. That being said, we will be keeping an eye on Justin's follow count, just in case.
