Just in Time for the Weekend, Versace Has a Bold Beauty Equation Worthy Stealing

How best to sum up tonight’s Versace show? In the words of Guido Palau: “Very sexy. Very hot. Very Donatella.” He may have been talking about the models’ hair, but his sentiments would prove to ring true across the board—especially during the finale, which saw Jennifer Lopez making a surprise runway appearance in that Versace jungle dress. Mirroring the palpable energy of the show, the beauty was a high-octane dose of glamour, with slicked strands and shocks of neon across the eyes and mouth.

“It’s meant to feel very out-the-shower, raked back with some little pieces around the face,” said Palau of the array of glossy slick backs—including a freshly-cropped Kaia Gerber and newly-blonde Kendall Jenner—as he molded meticulously and accented with eyebrow-grazing wisps. Shaping and shellacking hair into place with Redken's Hardwear Gel, he added mists of Shine Flash for a blinding shine effect under the runway lights. On the other side of the spectrum, models rocking their natural curls, such as Kyla Ramsey and Imaan Hammam, had their curls teased out to full volume.

Turning up the wattage, makeup artist Pat McGrath encased gazes in highlighter orange and bubblegum pink shades, as well as painted select mouths a bright coral, which popped against the collection’s green palm prints. While you’ll have to wait a whole season for the jungle-print suits, fluorescent raincoats, and Technicolor paillette mini-dresses, a Donatella-approved beauty equation is just a deluge of gel and wash of neon pigment away.
