Just One Round-trip Flight to Hawaii Could Get You a Southwest Companion Pass — Here's How
The coveted perk is available for a limited time.

Southwest Airlines wants travelers to have their haupia cake and eat it too with a special limited-time Hawaiian Companion Pass offer.
This summer, travelers can score a coveted Companion Pass by simply booking a round-trip or two one-way flights to paradise in June or July, Southwest shared with Travel + Leisure. To take advantage, passengers must be a member of Southwest’s Rapid Rewards loyalty program and first enroll in the promotion online through their online account by 11:59 p.m. CT on May 24.
“This is a great opportunity to HI 5 our Customers for supporting five years of Southwest service in five airports across Hawaii by showcasing and sharing one of the great perks of being part of our Rapid Rewards program,” Jonathan Clarkson, the vice president of marketing at Southwest Airlines, said in a statement shared with T+L. “Hawaii on Southwest is available nonstop from eight mainland gateways, and we’re excited for this opportunity to truly connect our Customers for travel between the mainland and the Hawaiian islands.”
After enrolling, travelers must book their qualifying flights to and from Hawaii between June 1 and July 31. They can then designate a companion to fly with them as many times as they want between Oct. 5 and Nov. 15.
The Companion Pass allows holders to designate one companion to fly with them nearly for free, simply requiring their companion to pay taxes and fees for each flight. Those start at $5.60 each way.
Typically, travelers can earn a Companion Pass by either flying 100 qualifying one-way flights or earning 135,000 qualifying points in a calendar year, possible by using a qualifying credit card, staying at partner hotels, and more.
Beyond the promotion, Southwest is making it cheaper to fly by introducing “Wanna Go Wednesdays” offering weekly discounted fares between popular markets.
