Just Some Inspo on How to Decorate With Pantone's 2024 Color of the Year

It’s here! The Pantone Research Institute — aka the authority on all things color — has named its 2024 color of the year, and it is adorably named Peach Fuzz. That’s right — not peach. Peach Fuzz. It’s all about specificity here, people. “If you just say the word ‘peach,’ people will conjure up a picture, but… for us the tactility, the touchable quality, all those things that speak to you about the softness, the gentleness, was very much a part of what our messaging is all about,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director for the Pantone Color Institute. “And so we knew we wanted to go to something that had that tactile quality and peach fuzz... it’s just, soft and touchable. It is just a color that I want to bring into my environment. I want to feel it against my face. It immediately gives that suggestion.”

As Pantone states, Peach Fuzz (PANTONE 13-1023) captures a “desire to nurture ourselves and others. It's a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.” In other words? The color should evoke the warm and (peach) fuzzies. And it’s the perfect thing to liven up your space.

“[Peach fuzz] evokes playfulness and encouragement,” says Laetitia Gorra, Founder of Roarke Design Studio. “I feel that as we find ourselves coming out of the pandemic with a new fresh approach, it's a perfectly appropriate color to encapsulate a positive fresh start." Gorra notes that her kitchen is painted in this color with green-accents (a great color combo), while you can also use Peach Fuzz in smaller ways, like the pop of a tea kettle on a stove, a hung piece of artwork, or even an accent rug. It adds a comforting touch and warms up a room while still opening up. It creates a welcoming space for you and your guests.

This is what Pantone aims for — bringing people together, and reimagining both spaces and the world around us through color. “I think that's one of the most wonderful things about doing the color of the year,” says Eiseman. “It embraces people, brings them together. It gets their creative juices flowing. And that's wonderful because it's something for people to get involved in and feel good about. It's a very uplifting process.”

Because I have a feeling you might want to keep this peach fuzz around. Because I suddenly feel better after just reading that.

"We wanted something that had that tactile quality," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “And peach fuzz...it’s just soft and touchable. It's a color that I want to bring into my environment. I want to feel it against my face.” In other words? The color gives all the warm and, well, fuzzies that one person can possibly endure. JIC you needed more convincing, Laetitia Gorra, founder of ROARKE Design Studio, said Peach Fuzz “evokes playfulness and encouragement.” Plus, she said, the subdued, yet inviting tone is "a perfectly appropriate color to encapsulate a positive fresh start," so it's great to incorporate at the top of a new year. Gorra painted her kitchen in the pigment and complemented it with loads of green accents (yes, please!). But if you want to experiment with the color without fully committing, you can use the muted orange shade in a bunch of subtle, smaller ways too—like with a pop of a tea kettle on the stove, a hung piece of artwork, or even an accent rug.
